The pre-expander constitutes the initial stage of an EPS production line, and its performance directly determines the quality of the finished products in all subsequent processes. By utilizing steam heating, the EPS pre-expander expands raw EPS beads to a target density, thereby preparing the raw materials for subsequent operations such as molding and cutting. On the global market, pre-expansion equipment is primarily categorized into two types: batch-type and continuous-type. Batch-type pre-expanders process EPS beads in discrete batches, offering greater control over the density and quality of each specific batch; they are well-suited for small-to-medium volume production or the manufacturing of multiple product varieties. Conversely, continuous-type pre-expanders are designed for large-scale, continuous production operations.
