Expandable polystyrene, often known as EPS (expandable polystyrene), is a type of expandable foam made of polystyrene and contains 5% to 8% of a blowing agent made of high volatility and low boiling hydrocarbons, primarily pentane. beads. Transparent beads with a white or colorless look give it away.

Part 1 Uses of Expandable Polystyrene
Because to its exceptional and long-lasting thermal insulation, distinctive cushioning and shock resistance, age resistance, and water resistance, expandable polystyrene has found extensive use in a variety of industries. Inseparable from EPS sheets and packaging items are household appliances like refrigerators, civil light industrial goods like ceramic products, frozen seafood, preserved vegetables, cold storage, railroads, municipal building, etc.

Part 2 Dangers of Expandable Polystyrene
With a flash point of -49°C, an autoignition temperature of 260°C, an explosion limit of 1.5% to 7.8%, and a relative density of 0.63 (water = 1), pentane is a highly flammable liquid. Pentane is highly flammable and explosive and may explode when heated, which raises the risk of transporting expandable polystyrene due to its exceptionally low flash point and explosive concentration.

Part3 Is it a dangerous chemical?
Expandable polystyrene is a dangerous substance in my nation and is classified as a Class I flammable solid in item 1228 of the "Inventory of Hazardous Chemicals" (2015 Edition).
Expandable polystyrene is categorized under the 9th category of miscellaneous dangerous goods and articles, including environmentally hazardous substances, in the United Nations' "Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods," a common international dangerous goods specification. The transportation package must use Class III packaging.

Part 4 Inspection regulatory requirements

1. Details on the product's primary components and ingredients, as well as its physical and chemical characteristics and several types of hazards;

2. Whether a safety data sheet is attached (imported products should be accompanied by a Chinese safety data sheet), and whether there are hazard publicity labels on the product packaging (imported products should have Chinese hazard publicity labels);
3. The container type, packaging mark, packaging category, packaging specification, unit weight, packaging usage status, etc. for imported hazardous substances must be inspected;

4. The performance inspection and use appraisal for the packaging of export hazardous chemicals shall be conducted in accordance with the "Performance Inspection Result Sheet for Outbound Goods Transport Packaging" and "Outbound Dangerous Goods Transport Packaging Use Identification Result Sheet," as well as the rules and standards on the inspection and management of export dangerous goods packaging by sea, air, road, and rail.
