Pentane is the most common expansion agent in EPS production. How much pentane content is appropriate for Expanded polystyrene.
EPS pentane content is not the higher the better.
Standard: 4.8-7% (≤ 6.8%)
Generally normal at about 5%
If there is too much foaming agent pentane in the mixture: After spending EPS, beans will bloom unevenly, distort, and crack.
If the pentane concentration of the foaming agent is too low, it will result in a lower expanding multiplier, a longer heating time need, poor bonding between the EPS beads during molding, easy shrinkage of the final EPS foam product, and difficult melting of the EPS beans, among other problems.
